About Our School

Linda Vista Elementary is a STEAM Magnet School located in Linda Vista (Spanish for "Pretty View") a community in San Diego. It lies on a beautiful mesa overlooking Mission Valley to the south and Mission Bay and the Pacific Ocean to the west. It is also home to our partners, the University of San Diego, a gorgeous campus that serves as a changemaker hub.

As recipients of the 2016 Magnet Schools Assistance Program Grant, our 400 students have access to cutting edge STEAM instruction and state of the art facilities like the Maker Space, the Design Studio, as well as new gardens that serve as an outdoor learning lab.

New Maker Facilities

We are fortunate enough to have a preschool on site where our youngest learners are able to engage in these experiences from the beginning of their educational career.

Built in the 1940's during the rapid growth of the wartime effort, Linda Vista's vintage architecture is a proud reminder of the school's past and its role in the beautiful community of Linda Vista.

Linda Vista STEAM Magnet School creates a culture where creativity, imagination, collaboration, and inquisitiveness are celebrated. All students are taught skills and strategies that prepare them t be real world problem solvers who think critically and innovatively to make positive changes in the world.

Our school and the surrounding neighborhood are undergoing many changes. In the near future we can look forward to a joint use grass field on campus, a public Skate Park around the corner, new community art and campus murals, and much much more!
